Whether you are an animal care/husbandry technician, facility manager, or veterinarian, everyone bemoans a leaky drinking valve (often referred to as a lixit). Leaking drinking valves and flooded cages are a fairly common problem when using automatic watering systems (or auto-water). I have experienced this problem many times with various species, including rodents. That being said, do not despair; there are a few things you can do to limit the occurrence of leaks and flooded cages.
