King, J. 2019. Team awesome: Why we can be proud. Animal Technology and Welfare 18(2), 127-131.

The presentation I gave at IAT Congress 2019 was based on the changes and refinements the University of Dundee, Medical School Resource Unit (MSRU) has made over the past 18 months. These changes, described in this paper, include: guinea pig housing (from small open top cages to a floor pen); refinement of rat breeding colonies (establishing monogamous pairs and housing them in 2 inter-connected cages); mouse environmental enrichment (adding a variety of new items, and rotating items weekly); rat housing and husbandry (connecting 3 standard cages with tunnels and giving shelled peanuts as treats); and no more tail handling of mice.
