At the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, Department of Comparative Medicine, we have a large captive colony of Olive Baboons (Papio anubis). Environmental enhancement is an integral part of the Comparative Medicine Baboon Research Resource program. One of our main objectives is providing them the opportunity to work for their food. We have developed a novel, easy-to-install feeding basket that increases a baboon’s time spent foraging for their primary diet and decreases the amount of food wastage. This article describes the basket [a suet feeder], the time baboons spend foraging with the basket, and average biscuit waste compared to a regular feeder.
