AWA High Welfare Farm Certification Is A-OK, Says ISO

Following a year-long application process, AWI’s Animal Welfare Approved (AWA) program was audited for compliance with the International Organization for Standardization’s “ISO 65” standards earlier this year by the International Organic Accreditation Service—the leading independent sustainable food and farming accreditation service. ISO is the world’s largest developer of voluntary international standards. ISO 65, which is open to certification bodies across the world, was specifically designed to verify that a certification body is operating in a consistent and reliable manner in all aspects of its work. AWA is the only farm animal welfare program in the United States to hold this globally recognized quality assurance standard.
