Through October 11, 2024, AWI is accepting applications for the long-standing Refinement Research Award and the newer Implementing Refinement Grant. These annual funding opportunities are open to applicants based in the United States or Canada. The Refinement Research Award offers up to US$15,000 toward research projects that develop or test innovative methods of refinement to the care, husbandry, or housing of animals in experimentation. The Implementing Refinement Grant offers up to US$8,000 toward the purchase of equipment or training of staff for the purpose of implementing refinements known to improve the welfare of animals in experimentation.
