Goats are known for their lively and curious nature and our pygmy and Nubian goats are no exception. Providing them with a stimulating environment is essential for their physical and mental well-being and one way to achieve this is by designing a goat enclosure that caters for their unique physiological needs and playful personalities. In this article, I will explore the various elements we employed in the making of a well-designed goat enclosure with effective use of limited space and efficient use of a limited budget. The key elements of the goat enclosure include: low swing; wobbly bridge; old tires; wooden platforms; and raised living platform with turf. To ensure that goats of all ages, sizes and physical capabilities can enjoy the various elements of the enclosure, ramps were a crucial addition.
