Horse Transportation

In July, the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure unanimously approved the Horse Transportation Safety Act (H.R. 305). This bill would make it illegal to haul horses in trailers with two levels, one stacked on top of the other.

The bill, sponsored by Representatives Mark Kirk (R-IL) and Steve Cohen (D-TN), was introduced in response to several horrific accidents resulting in the deaths of dozens of horses who had been crammed into unstable trailers.
